Statements of Ministry

Parkway’s Purpose Statement

Through God’s Spirit, we listen deeply, build community, and act for justice.

Since 1998 Parkway UCC has been an Open and Affirming (ONA) church welcoming all to join in our worship and ministry.

Open and Affirming Statement

Parkway United Church of Christ is an Open and Affirming congregation within the United Church of Christ. We believe that all people are created in God’s image and thus are blessed and loved equally. In this spirit, we welcome all people, including those of every race, spiritual tradition, sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression into the full life and ministry of the church.

In 2017, the congregation approved the following Statement of Welcome:

Parkway UCC Statement of Welcome

Following the teachings of Jesus, we pledge to resist policies and actions which target and deport undocumented immigrants and discriminate against marginalized communities. In solidarity with those targeted by prejudice, we will work alongside our inter-faith partners, other organizations, and neighbors to help ensure dignity and human rights of all people.

This pledge includes but is not limited to offering opportunities for education and legal understanding of rights, financial support, community-building by participation in programs like “Strangers to Neighbors,” advocacy in conversation with law enforcement, prayer and witness response to I.C.E. activity in our community.
